Can't move files between two desktops of one monitor on Mac when a second monitor is connected

I can't move files between disktops on one monitor when a second minitor is connected. But I can move from one monitor to another, why?

Try to move files between the desktops on a single monitor this way:

  1. Drag the file you want to move.
  2. Without letting it go, press Control + left/right to switch to the other desktop.
  3. Drop the file when reaching the desired desktop.
